Bring the class.

A morning on a working dairy farm. Five stations, small groups, thirty minutes each. Pre-K through 8th grade, scout troops, homeschool co-ops and community groups.

What a morning here looks like

Your group arrives at the big red indoor barn and divides into small groups, each with one of our guides plus a teacher or parent helper. From there the groups rotate to a new station every thirty minutes. Nobody spends the morning at the back of a crowd of forty.

Everything runs rain or shine. Appropriate attire for walking and weather is a must.

Every tour is adapted to the age, grade level and any special needs of the group. Tell us what your group needs and we build the morning around it.

THE MORNING

How the time runs

9:00 Arrive and divide into groups
9:30 Rotations begin, a station every half hour
11:00 Back to the indoor arena to talk about the morning
11:30 Farm store open · picnic area free for lunch

A 9:00 or 9:30 start both work. A group of about 40 divides into four; 80–100 into five.

Things you can add

Any of these can be built into the morning if you ask when you book. Some carry a small additional fee.

  • A blacksmith shop tour
  • A draft horse harness demonstration
  • A cheese making demonstration
  • Felting, with wool from our own sheep
  • A fleece and fiber demonstration
  • Horseshoe painting
  • Hayrides, on request

Lunch. The picnic area is free to use, whether you bring lunch or not. A healthy seasonal snack can be provided, and pizza can be ordered through the farm office in advance. The farm store is open during and after tours.

For teachers

The farm maps its tour activities to the Pennsylvania academic standards from Pre-K upward: Environment and Ecology, Agriculture and Society, Earth and Space Sciences, and Geography. Compost and waste management, the greenhouse and growing without pesticides, beehives and pollination, life cycles, earth materials.

We can send you the full standards alignment and a sample schedule to take to your principal. Ask for them when you request a date.

Handouts are provided to teaching staff at the closing session.
